IDC brought together staff from three states to share their experiences in overcoming challenges as new data managers and offer practical strategies that are relevant for all data managers. IDEA Part B presenters from Illinois, South Carolina, and Wyoming discussed how they use tools, rely on relationships with colleagues and TA providers, and come up with unique ideas and solutions to problems to improve data quality and reporting in their states. Presenters shared strategies they used when facing the many typical challenges data managers face—maintaining ongoing communication and support to local districts, organizing and meeting a complex data schedule to manage and implement IDEA data requirements, and others. Presenters shared how networking with their colleagues helps them build and continue to maintain supportive relationships as they navigate the changing contexts in their states and meet the challenges of their jobs.
