    Data Sharing Agreement Checklist for IDEA Part C and Part B 619 Agencies and Programs

    This 2014 document is an adaptation of the 2012 release of Data Sharing Agreement Checklist intended for K-12 audiences. Presented as a checklist, the document summarizes the requirements for the written agreements under the audit or evaluation exception that is specified in FERPA and that also applies to the IDEA for Part C early intervention and Part B 619 preschool special education.

    Data Visualization Toolkit: Tools & Tips for Presenting Data Effectively

    The purpose of the toolkit is to help state Part C and Part B staff effectively create and use engaging data displays. For each data visualization topic, the toolkit presents a comprehensive set of resources and information, including design principles, data considerations, accessibility tips, general how-to’s, examples, and sample tools. DaSy and NCSI partnered to create the toolkit.

    Demystifying the IDC Part B Data System Framework

    This workshop provided participants firsthand experience working with the IDEA Data Center Part B Data System Framework to explore factors impacting data quality or ways to expand capacity in the SEA. Because the Framework is based on a whole systems approach, its use can encourage discussion and provide direction for how to tackle everyday problems and issues. Through hands-on exercises, participants explored different approaches to how states might apply the Framework to improvement efforts, planning, or organizational activities.

    Developing Data Literacy

    Data literacy is a critical component of achieving and maintaining a culture of high-quality data and use. Working toward a high level of data literacy within an agency is an ongoing process that involves many steps and players. This session presented key considerations for improving data literacy, including how to develop and apply data to inform policy and practice and ensure that an agencies shares a meaningful story of the data with stakeholders that all can understand and use.

    Digging Into the IDEA Data Quality Reports to Improve Data Quality

    OSEP has provided states with data quality reports, now what? This workshop explored ways states can use the IDEA Data Quality Review and Year to Year reports to improve data quality. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises to explore how the OSEP-provided reports may point to systemic issues related to internal state processes or communication. Participants explored next steps after identifying data quality issues, including applying best practices for writing data notes, incorporating lessons learned into internal processes or systems, and exploring opportunities for support or training for LEAs.
